New Research Published in the Journal of Surgical Case Reports: “Assessment of Revascularization Impact on Microvascular Oxygenation and Perfusion Using Spatial Frequency Domain Imaging”

Irvine, CA—July 15, 2023—

A new clinical case study was published in the Journal of Surgical Case Reports. This research, titled “Assessment of Revascularization Impact on Microvascular Oxygenation and Perfusion Using Spatial Frequency Domain Imaging (SFDI),” sheds light on the potential role of microvascular assessment in lower limb interventional procedures.

The study presents representative clinical cases revealing how the ankle brachial index (ABI)—a traditional measure of non-invasive vascular measurements—does not ultimately correlate with either clinical outcomes or successful wound healing.

“The research highlights the importance of utilizing a functional microvascular measurement to achieve a positive clinical outcome.” said Dr. Amaan Mazhar, CEO of Modulim and the company lead for the collaboration with University of Arizona. “As we develop our body of clinical work, we continue to prove the importance of evaluating the microvascular system quantitatively and directly, before and after a procedure, to predict and evaluate the effectiveness of surgical interventions,” added Dr. Mazhar.

Modulim remains committed to saving limbs and improving lives by empowering healthcare teams with microvascular and data insights. This publication in the Journal of Surgical Case Reports highlights the rigorous scientific research and clinical significance of its continued work.
